DiMasi’s new anti-bullying guide

May 5, 2008 By political-inaction

Coming on the heels of the state releasing it’s anti-bullying guide, May 1st, a male legislator bullied State Rep. Callahan. The threat included saying that he could “really hurt you if I wanted to.”

Occurring right on the heels of passing anti-bullying legislation one might ask if the state is going to come out with one for the legislature as well.

Have at it, what would a State House anti-bullying guide include?

So what about military schools and juvenile hall. Some would argue that these institutions bully students. Whats next, going after drill sergeants in the military. Are we trying to make a nation of cowards. Not be disrespect other peoples ideas, but having been in the military and served in Bosnia, I can honestly say tough love keeps you alive. Having survived inner city schools, the same applies because once your on the street, its no holds bared, problem is the bully tends to not be in school, he is the thug on the street. Should we make a law that bans all bullying what so ever, maybe we can arrest homeless people fore bullying people for money, how about arresting Keven Garnett for bullying and taunting his opponents. Get my point, bullying is part of life, no matter how hard you try, its always gonna be there. Its best to teach kids to be above it because it will happen one day.

This post is supposed to be light hearted, taking a few barbs at legislators acting like ridiculous wannabe thugs.

I’m glad governments are starting to recognize and support anti-buillying measures.

p>As someone who was severely harassed and bullied as a gay, effeminate male while teachers sat by either ambivalent or not knowing what to do, changed high schools, then left to come to boston a year before graduating high-school so I could go to college in the city to get away from said bullying – i think it is imperative that teachers understand and are trained to handle anti-lgbt bullying.
