Today, on LeftAhead, Lynne, Mike and I chatted about four sets of politicians on the national, state and local levels who have made rash, illegal, unacceptable and/or bizarre decisions. We discussed Sarah Palin and her problems in Alaska, as well as Governor Sanford’s odd behaivor in South Carolina (which Mike can understand perfectly). We then moved on to six members of the Lowell City Council and their allegedly illegal, but certainly inappropriate, behavior and decision making.
Then we talked about what it took to cure these political problem candidates around the country — namely, finding and electing candidates and people with good ethics, who are willing to stand up against corrupt and incapable officials and ways of doing things. I brought up the example of Eileen Donoghue, who’s clearly a political winner today.
Finally, we wondered whether Treasurer Tim Cahill’s behavior and (mis?)management of the Treasurer’s Office was worthy of the previous groups of people, and whether Deval Patrick’s done a well enough job to thwart the efforts of Tim Cahill, as well as the candidacies of other potential seekers of the Corner Office.
