Like a good leftist soldier, Paul Krugman represents and/or leads the charge in the envy-driven assault on small business owners and other high income earners. Presently, he is covering up his true motives with accusations that extending tax cuts for “the rich” are fiscally irresponsible. Add in some Bush bashing and you’ve got a standard leftist attack, salve for the souls of tormented liberals everywhere. It is, of course, all Bush’s fault.
Megan McArdle easily destroys his cover story leaving nothing but envy and socialist tendencies exposed:
This is sort of impressive: Paul Krugman simultaneously castigates Republicans for the fiscal irresponsibility of wanting to extend tax cuts for the rich that cost about $700 billion–and for irresponsibly threatening the extension of tax cuts for the middle class which cost three times as much. Yet you could read the entire column and not realize that it’s the middle class tax cuts which are the really expensive, budget-busting bit.
Meanwhile, on the pork front, John Murtha’s successor slips a tidy $10 million into a defense bill, in order to build some kind of homage to Murtha. Ten million dollars. And you guys think people who make $250K can afford to be taxed more! Where is your sense of scale!
According to Critz’s explanation of the project, the 30,000 square-foot Center will primarily serve as a scholarly debating forum for policy issues and a repository for Murtha’s papers. But wait, you ask. How does the Murtha Center relate to the Department of Defense? Oh, it’ll inspire “students and the general public to become active in our communities, the military, and in public service.” See? Military applicability.
Meanwhile here in Massachusetts, Barney Frank warned Maxine Waters that trying to save the bank her husband was involved in through TARP would be illegal and unethical. So, he did it for her. This story keeps gettting worse.
Look I know you guys hate and/or greatly disdain the “teabaggers”. But you keep reading this stuff and you have to think they might have a point.
Who can conscionably support Barney Frank for reelection? The only way to do it is to buy into the corrupt system described above.
