The Berkshire Chamber of Commerce Tells the US Chamber to Take a Hike!

January 21, 2011 By gregr

You see, in one of my prouder blogging moments, Citizen United’s founder, Mr. Floyd Brown, once threatened to sue me.

Now if only we could get the Supreme Court to recognize the horrible mistake they made when they said that Mr. Brown’s organization’s spending was the equivalent to an individual person’s first amendment rights. That would be justification for a big celebration!

Aside from the highly questionable economic benefits of the US Chamber in general, they clearly benefit solely the largest multinational corporations, and not members of county Chambers.

p>Keeping unemployment high means fewer customers for Berkshire County businesses.

    <

p>Right wing economic policies are keeping the unemployment high. This is supported by the big companies who use the US Chamber as a vessel to give campaign money to right wing candidates.

    <

    p>They are getting it right.

    <

p>I am not a lawyer, and this is not legal advice, but if they are presented with the choice of changing their name or paying money from US Chamber lawyers, they should change their name.

    <

p>The US Chamber is keeping them down, so why give them money?

There are lots of “Chambers” not affiliated with the USChamber.  I’d love to see ’em all change their name to eliminate the misunderstanding the public has about just which kind of businesses the USChamber represents, but…
