Fully Baked Baker Budget

March 5, 2015 By massmarrier 7 Comments

With an ostensible liberal Democratic-controlled General Court, MA remains traditionally fiscally conservative. That's fertile ground for GOP Gov. Charlie Baker to plant his no-new taxes seeds. Thus, most of his first budget proposal likely … [Read more...]

Ignoring the Climate Crisis, Fixating on Phony Ones

December 30, 2012 By thegreenmiles 1 Comment

When our children are wondering why we didn't solve the climate crisis when we had the chance, I'm sure they'll be thankful we took the time to try to gut their retirement benefits. This morning I watched Meet The Press host David … [Read more...]

(Video) Deficit or no deficit, that is the question

November 30, 2010 By ray-m 4 Comments

In a recent letter to the editor of the New Bedford Standard Times I wrote about tax breaks. The conservative argument is tax breaks create jobs, but according to my studies it doesn't work. If I own a tire shop and I sell 100 tires a day … [Read more...]

Don’t let the Republican spinmasters hang Bush’s deficit around the necks of Patrick and Obama

September 26, 2010 By AmberPaw Leave a Comment

Spineless Dems: What can we do to change this!?

January 27, 2010 By apricot 6 Comments

If the above is as depressing to you as it is to me, then here's something, maybe, to animate your spirit... we have to re-engage as powerfully as we did in the campaign to fight back against these now emboldened forces of reaction. I think … [Read more...]

Yikes.

The idea of a Pro Life Trump supporter winning Suffolk 19 is not out of the ordinary. Winthrop is particular is much more right leaning that Revere. And Revere got severely out voted. When Capobianco had his story, that left you with two progressives. #mapoli

.@CDCgov dir. @RWalensky, once part of MA's #COVID19 advsy board, said

"Now is not the time to relax the critical safeguards that we know can stop the spread of COVID-19 ... not when we are so close."

But @MassGovernor pushes to reopen.

Who is advising Gov. Baker now?

It's time to state outright that Charlie Baker's science advisory team is the Chamber of Commerce. That's why we were slow to act last year, why our public health network got ignored on vaccines & why our reopenings have flown in the face of data, expert advice & common sense. https://twitter.com/MikeConnollyMA/status/1366423893276303364

Mike Connolly@MikeConnollyMA

Just reiterating my COVID philosophy: Instead of bucking advice from the CDC and Dr. Fauci (by further reopening the Mass. economy), we should #TaxTheRich and use the new revenue to provide cash relief to people in need and small businesses while also investing in health equity.
