Last night: A course correction

November 8, 2017 By Charley on the MTA 22 Comments

We'll start elsewhere ... In spite of some last-minute panic and unnecessary gaffes by the top-line candidate, Virginia had a smashing night for Democrats, crushing the ambitions of racists, neo-Confederates, homophobes, … [Read more...]

New Leadership For Boston: Tito Jackson For Mayor

November 4, 2017 By jamaicaplainiac 22 Comments

(While I’m promoting this post as being of general interest, this shouldn’t be seen as a BMG endorsement in this race - Charley) Boston is at a crossroads. Tuesday's election is fundamentally about what kind of city we want this to … [Read more...]

#CrumblingT: A video for a “car guy” mayor

September 25, 2017 By Charley on the MTA 7 Comments

First, to acknowledge Doug Rubin's objection to my use of "Coakley moment" to describe Marty Walsh's out-of-touch statement on the T. Martha's obviously paid a high price for the last few years, and I don't do this website to be cruel to … [Read more...]

Legacy of Long Island homeless in #bospoli

September 11, 2017 By Charley on the MTA 7 Comments

I don't live in Boston, though obviously like everyone else in the area I'm affected by decisions made by the mayor and city council. I won't be taking a side in the mayoral race; but the preliminary election is nigh upon us, September … [Read more...]

It’s time to make Keolis pay

October 24, 2016 By Jamie Eldridge 46 Comments

I was outraged to hear that the Baker administration decided to forgive $839,000 in fines leveled against Keolis, the outsourced operator of the commuter rail system, behind closed doors and without any notice to the public. As co-chairs of … [Read more...]

Who is Marty Walsh?

March 8, 2016 By jamaicaplainiac 12 Comments

Just throwing this question out for the comments.  When I voted for him, I thought Marty Walsh was a progressive. But his policies are mostly pro-wealth, anti-regular-people. I heard him speak once. He seemed like a sincere advocate for … [Read more...]

Marty Walsh thinks First Night is too big for the City to run

April 23, 2015 By HR's Kevin 10 Comments

After Mayor Menino rescued the annual First Night celebrations, it appears that Mayor Walsh wants to get out of the responsibility of First Night essentially because it is too difficult: “We are not in the business of running events like … [Read more...]

Hey #mapoli please tell me come 2022 we are going to remember how Charlie Baker mismanaged the COVID vaccine rollout, vetoed the consensus police reform bill, vetoed abortion access, vetoed the consensus climate bill, didn’t fund the SOA, and slashed transit. Please.
