Middle class families vs. big banks

September 8, 2011 By elizabethwarren 6 Comments

Do we need more proof Washington’s not working for middle class families? We got it once again this week. The big banks and their army of lobbyists couldn’t stop the creation of a new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, so now they are … [Read more...]

The $18,000 Verizon bill: time to end “fine print” abuses

May 3, 2010 By Tristan 33 Comments

(I'm a lawyer, and personally, I'll read something like a lease in its entirety -- but everything else just gets a quick glance.  It's simple math: I expect to pay $18,000 over the course of a year-long lease, so I take the time to … [Read more...]

Ban Retail Rebate Scams!

My wife and I don't watch TV, or at least we didn't until Lost came around. Now we are eagerly awaiting the beginning of Season 4. For Christmas, I bought her a Tivo box so that we can tape the show without commercials. The box was … [Read more...]

Nader not “An Unreasonable Man”

April 9, 2007 By Laurel 41 Comments

I went to see the new documentary "An Unreasonable Man", about Ralph Nader, and found it quite compelling.  The movie is so multifaceted, it is difficult for this amateur to write an adequate review!  It addresses Nader's history … [Read more...]

.@CDCgov dir. @RWalensky, once part of MA's #COVID19 advsy board, said

"Now is not the time to relax the critical safeguards that we know can stop the spread of COVID-19 ... not when we are so close."

But @MassGovernor pushes to reopen.

Who is advising Gov. Baker now?

It's time to state outright that Charlie Baker's science advisory team is the Chamber of Commerce. That's why we were slow to act last year, why our public health network got ignored on vaccines & why our reopenings have flown in the face of data, expert advice & common sense. https://twitter.com/MikeConnollyMA/status/1366423893276303364

Just reiterating my COVID philosophy: Instead of bucking advice from the CDC and Dr. Fauci (by further reopening the Mass. economy), we should #TaxTheRich and use the new revenue to provide cash relief to people in need and small businesses while also investing in health equity.

Just a reminder that Massachusetts is going to unlimited capacity indoor dining starting tomorrow while the CDC begs us not to, and it’s super embarrassing that no one can articulate a justification why other than 🤷🏻‍♂️ 🤷🏻‍♂️ 🤷🏻‍♂️
