Nathan Phillips hunger strike, day 7 — please make the calls

February 4, 2020 By Charley on the MTA 1 Comment

Why does a man have to starve himself, just to get the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to protect the public in the most basic way? When you really think about it ... you wonder how it's ever come to this. As I mentioned nearly a week ago, … [Read more...]

May 23, 2018 By Charley on the MTA 1 Comment

Just to amplify another experienced, reality-based voice calling out the Boston Globe for its series (!) of pro-pipeline editorials. This time it's former Department of Public Utilities chair Ann Berwick -- but stop me if you've heard this … [Read more...]

Holding out for better things in the pipeline

January 19, 2018 By Charley on the MTA 7 Comments

ISO-NE, our regional power grid managers, issued a new report warning of dire consequences unless we build out for MOAR GAS. Rolling blackouts! "Appeals to the public to reduce energy usage" ... horrors. I suspect we'll get full scrutiny of … [Read more...]

Globe blows it on gas

January 11, 2018 By Charley on the MTA 3 Comments

Apparently we used more oil and coal in the cold snap. That's bad. The Globe's unsigned editorial has identified exactly the wrong culprit, and the wrong solution: Two culprits stand out. First, efforts by some environmental activists … [Read more...]

Nothing Natural About Fracked Gas

August 26, 2015 By thegreenmiles 3 Comments

We don't call it "natural oil" or "natural coal." So why do we refer to methane gas - especially the gas that's been fracked - as "natural"? Fracking is the process of drilling down into the earth before a high-pressure water mixture is … [Read more...]

What do eggs, lotion, and Slurpees have in common?

All of them have been deemed “dangerous weapons” in courts that made young people ineligible for judicial diversion to community supervision instead of incarceration.

12 senators wanted to keep it that way. #mapoli

Thank you to the 32 senators who voted to expand opportunities for judicial diversion to community supervision instead of incarceration for youth!

Incarceration is not designed for rehabilitation and cannot offer an outcome it's not designed for. #mapoli

More proof that my state representative hates women and LGBTQ+ individuals -- and apparently healthcare providers, too. He needs to go.

Everyone in the district must vote for Emmanuel Dockter for State Representative in November.

Look who voted no on H.4930, a new #ReproductiveRights bill. Shame on DeCoste for voting no on this vital piece of legislation.

We shouldn’t be surprised, though, as he has a history of voting against the fundamental rights of women and LGBTQ+ individuals.

At every level of government, we must have intelligent, thoughtful representation. We have a better chance of achieving this if we have two, truly viable parties, which would allow for the actual challenge & contrast of ideas. #mapoli

According to the @PioneerBoston, #Massachusetts lost over 20,000 residents in 2020. Maybe a positive spin can be put on this, but the reality still must be acknowledged. The cost of living & the lack of political choice are driving people from the state. We need change. #mapoli
